OYO STATE GOVERNMENT EMBARKS ON MASSIVE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PROJECTS.

The Oyo State Government has earmarked over N168 million towards the immediate commencement of a massive Information Technology project.

The State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mrs. Risikat Oyebimpe Alabi disclosed this today while briefing the press at the end of the state executive council meeting.

The commissioner explained that the project will cover capacity building that will cost over  N24 million, procurement of computer hardware costing over N34 million while the procurement and installation of V-SAT will gulp over N44 million.

The information technology project will also cover public service networking costing over N49 million with all the accessories gulping over N15 million.

She further explained that the idea behind the project was to facilitate effective and efficient government service delivery to the people.

The commissioner added that the project would complement government efforts towards laying a solid foundation for E-governance, pointing out that the procurement and installation of V-SAT would ensure internet based services to various ministries and agencies while the public service networking will take care of Government- employee interaction as well as Government- government interaction for improved productivity.

While also briefing newsmen, the state commissioner for education, Professor Nureni Olawore said that the state government has discovered that class room building projects awarded for some schools across the state by the previous administration had been abandoned by the executing contractors.

He therefore called on the contractors to ensure immediate completion of the projects or be ready to face the wrath of the law, adding that the concerned contractors should report at the state ministry of education on Friday this week.
