I WAS NEVER IN BONDAGE – GOVERNOR CHRISTOPHER ADEBAYO ALAO-AKALA

Governor Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala has reacted sharply to insinuation that he was freed from bondage to have sent former Chief Judge on compulsory leave. In a statement signed by Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Communications, the Governor explained that he had engaged the NJC in meaningful dialogue over the past two months and this has resulted in the latest Government decision on the former Chief Judge.

He described as imaginary, the opinion in some quarters that he had been in bondage until lately. The statement said Governor Alao-Akala had always been his own man who takes Responsibilities for all decisions taken in his administration. Government stand on this particular issue is in keeping with what the NJC also stands for; that no individual or group is bigger than the rule of law.

The moment Hon. Justice Olakanmi went to court to challenge his removal, government felt quite obliged to disengage from the issue entirely and leave it in the hands of the Court, NJC and the respondent. The statement added that by sending the former Chief Judge on compulsory leave, Government feels no encumbrance in the way of justice even as it awaits the court ruling.
