GOVERNOR CHRISTOPHER ADEBAYO ALAO-AKALA CHARGES THE NEW COMMISSIONER OF POLICE TO ELIMINATE UNDESIRABLE ELEMENT

The Oyo State Governor, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala has charged the new commissioner of police in the State to ensure total elimination of undesirable elements who had been terrorizing people of the State.

He gave the charge today, while receiving the new commissioner of police, CP Bashiru Azeez who paid him a courtesy visit in his office. Governor Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala while commenting the new CP for his achievements in various places he has served urged him to put in place necessary machinery to flush out men of the under world in and around the State to reduce fear and apprehension of the citizen resulting from the activities of these disgruntled elements.

The Governor who expressed regret at the killing of the CP’s driver by armed robbers shortly before he was posted to the State, urged him to retaliate by completely removing criminal activities in Oyo which is his own State. The State Chief Executive assured the new CP of his administration’s unrelenting support, pointing out that the State government had provided 50 vehicles being fully equipped with communication gadgets to further enhance the operational activities of the police.

He stressed the need for the new CP to instill discipline into his men, pointing out that police officers should desist from extorting money from motorists. Earlier in his address, the new commissioner of police, CP Bashiru Azeez assured that his command would do everything possible to ensure the security of lives and property of the entire citizen of the State. He told the Governor that his men were fully prepared to give policing in the State a new meaning with human face and decency, informing the Governor that sanitization within the State police command had started with the arrest of ten police officers for extortion, intimidation and harassment adding that this will be a continuous exercise.

While commending the Governor for his support towards the command, the CP appealed to him to improve on the provision of adequate logistics to make it more effective in responding to distress calls from the public.
