GOVERNOR CHRISTOPHER ADEBAYO ALAO-AKALA SWEARS IN OYO STATE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEMBERS.

The Oyo State Governor, Otunba Christopher Alao-Akala today performed the swearing-in ceremony of members of the Oyo State Civil Service Commission with a charge to ensure that honest, brilliant and dedicated men and women of quality are recruited into the  Civil Service. Governor Alao-Akala who expressed displeasure that the State Civil Service being regarded as the father of Civil Service in Nigeria is losing fast its quality and character, urged members to restore the Civil Service to its past glory within the shortest period of this administration.

The Governor further charged them to fashion out in collaboration with the Ministry of Establishment, Training and Poverty Alleviation and the Head of Service appropriate training programme that will raise the standard of performance and competence of all grades of Civil Servants. Governor Alao-Akala said that the present administration in the State had continued to motivate Civil Servants with a view to enhancing their performance, pointing out that many of them have been sent on local and overseas courses to improve their competence and put them in good stead to implement the policies and programmes of the government.

He therefore enjoined Civil Servants to reciprocate the good gesture of government by exhibiting high sense of dedication and loyalty, adding that they should imbibe the culture of hard work and shun all vices which were alien to the Civil Service but which are fast gaining ground in the service as a result of craze for materialism. The Governor, while congratulating the members urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by ensuring that the responsibility of setting up general uniform guidelines for appointments, promotion and discipline of Civil Servants is strictly adhered to.

Responding, the Chairman of the commission Alhaji Bashiru Adesola Akinola pledged the loyalty and readiness of members of the commission to meet up with the challenges of restoring the State Civil Service to its past glory. He commended the effort of the State Governor Otunba Christopher Alao-Akala in reconstituting the State Civil Service Commission, adding that the action of the Governor was timely as the people of the State have been yearning for it, describing Governor Alao-Akala’s administration as a listening one.

Members of the commission includes Dr. (Mrs.) Adelowo Funmilayo Enitan, Engineer Ahmed Mustapha Alimi, Chief Olaniyi Adesokan and Mr. Moses David Ojoawo
