The Water Corporation of Oyo state is a Public Corporation carved out of the the Western Nigeria Water Corporation.It has seven Directorates and four units which reports the general manager for the smooth running of its day-to day activities.In addition,the corporation has its headquarters at the secretariat,Ibadan with district offices located at Agodi, Bodija, Egbeda, Jericho.Oke-Ado, Ogbomoso, Oyo and Saki.There is also the Leak Detection and Emergency Repair Unit for the repair of leakages and pipe burst in the state.
The Water Corporation has been in operation for the past 36 years, it was created on the 1st of July,1976 and currently has a staff strength of 667 employees.
Our Vision
To ensure uninterrupted provision of potable water for the use of the good of oyo people state at reasonable charges for living their social economic activities.
Our Mission
Production and distribution of potable water for the use of human and agro-cultural purposes through construction, installation and operation of necessary water infrastructure on behalf of Oyo State Government.
Objectives
- To control and manage all water works vested in the corporation
- To establish, control, manage, extend and develop new schemes and to extend and develop existing ones as the corporation may deem necessary for the purpose of providing adequate water in order to meet the requirement of the general public,agriculture,trade and industry in various parts of Oyo State
- To ensure that potable water is supplied to the consumer thereof at reasonable charges and in potable quality and adequate quantity
- To organize the conduct of comprehensive research for the purpose corporation from time to time on matters relating to its function under law.
The Directorates and Units
The Corporation has eight (8) Directorates General Manager for action in order to achieve their aim and objectives. Which are:
- Administration.
- Finance and Supply.
- Design, Research, Planning and Construction.
- Mechanical and Electrical.
- Quality Control.
- Commercial Services.
- Audit, Project Monitoring, Training and Computer Units.
- Operation and Maintenance.
In addition to the Directorates and Units, the Corporation has District Offices located at Agodi, Egbeda, Jericho, Oke-Ado, Bodija, Oyo, Ogbomoso and Saki. Each District is divided into sectors where the public can report problems for rectification. There is also Leak Detection and Emergency Unit at the Headquarters for the same purpose.
